Checking Whether TLS 1.0 is Supported for Certificate Licensing

Support for TLS 1.0 is required to be able to activate certificate licensing to run the following products:

  • PSCAD v4.5.3 to v4.6.3 (Update 3)
  • Enerplot 1.0.0
  • FACE 2.0

The support for TLS 1.0 must be enabled on the computer running the product, as well as in your network, firewall, gateway, router, policy etc.

To determine whether TLS 1.0 is supported for licensing the above products with certificate licensing, the Fortran Medic utility can be used as follows:

  • First, follow the steps listed in this article (Step 4) to enable TLS 1.0 on your computer.

  • Download and launch the latest Fortran Medic utiity as per Steps a, b and c of this article.

    Notes
-At Step c, ensure to select the option to elevate (select "Yes").
-The capaility to determine TLS 1.0 support was introduced in the Fortran Medic on March 10, 2021.

  • From the Help menu, select Advanced help | Test TLS 1.x Support

  • When the test is completed, results similar to the following will display if TLS 1.0 is fully supported:

A TLS client handshake completed successfully. The negotiated cryptographic parameters are as follows.
Protocol version: TLS 1.0

If the test "handshake" was not successfully completed, either:

  • Upgrade your software, or

  • Retain your product version, but obtain assistance from your IT team to have TLS 1.0 supported on your network, firewall, gateway, router, policy etc.
