Updating Your MATLAB Configuration File

This article provides instructions for updating the matlab_versions.xml configuration file.

The matlab_versions.xml configuration file is installed alongside PSCAD, and is used by PSCAD when performing PSCAD/lMATLAB co-simulation.

As newer versions of Matlab are released, the matlab_versions.xml file should be updated to be able to detect and use these newer Matlab versions.

This file may be updated either manually or automatically as follows.

1. Automatic Update to the Matlab Configuration File

  • Download and run the latest version of the Fortran Medic utility as per Steps (a) to (d) of this article.

Note: At Step (c), ensure to select "Yes" to be able to make changes using the Utility.

  • When the Utility has finished gathering information about your system, scroll down to the PSCAD installation, right-click on the Matlab conflict (see example below), and select the option to update the file:

  • The Utility will update the file to the most recent version.

2. Manual Update to the Matlab Configuration File

  • Obtain the matlab_versions.xml configuration file in either of the following manners:

    • Request the most recent version of the file from our support desk (support@mhi.ca), or

    • At the bottom of this article, click on the Matlab file link corresponding to your PSCAD version (X4 or V5) to download the file, then unzip the file.
(not guaranteed to be the most recent version)
  • Rename or delete your existing matlab_versions.xml file, located here:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\[PSCAD version]\

  • Save the unzipped matlab_versions.xml file to the above path.
