Issues when activating a License Certificate
This article lists solutions if a license certificate may not be activated.
If your application fails to activate a certificate:
- Use the MHI Fortran Medic utility to configure your machine for certificate licensing, and
- Ensure the networking requirements are met as specified in Appendix B of the attached manual, then
- Retry license ativation.
- If the issue persists, please refer to the solutions listed in the attached manual, or
- Obtain assistance from the MHI support desk, as per the instructions below.
Obtaining Assistance From The MHI Support Desk
Please send the following to the MHI support desk (support@mhi.ca):
1. A description of the issue
2. Screenshots of any error messages
3. Your licensing log file/s:
3.1 PSCAD
There are two licensing log files:
a. PscadCert.txt log file (applicable for v4.6 and V5):
C:\ProgramData\Manitoba HVDC Research Centre\LicenseManager\
b. PscadLmgr.txt log file (applicable for V4 and V5) (send in the duplicate files from all locations):
-C:\Users\All Users\Manitoba HVDC Research Centre\LicenseManager
-C:\ProgramData\Manitoba HVDC Research Centre\LicenseManager
-C:\Users\<your_userID>\AppData\Local\Manitoba HVDC Research Centre\LicenseManager
Note - If AppData is not visible, configure your File Explorer to be able to view "Hidden" folders.
Note - This file may be viewed from with the PSCAD application, from the Licensing menu:
3.2 PRSIM:
The "PRSIM.txt" licensing log file is located here:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Manitoba Hydro International\Licensing\Logs
Note - This file may be displayed from within the PRSIM application, from the Licensing menu (similar to the PSCAD image above).
3.3 PSCAD Initializer:
The "Initializer.txt" licensing log file is located here:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Manitoba Hydro International\Licensing\Logs
Note - This file may be displayed from within the Initializer application, from the Licensing menu (similar to the PSCAD image above).
3.4 Enerplot:
The "Enerplot.txt" licensing log file is located here:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Manitoba Hydro International\Licensing\Logs
Note - This file may be viewed from with the Enerplotapplication, from the Licensing menu:
3.5 FACE:
The "Face.txt" licensing log file is located here:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Manitoba Hydro International\Licensing\Logs
Note - This file may be displayed from within the FACE application, from the Licensing menu (similar to the Enerplot image above).

5. The generated log file from running a connectivity test as per this article.
