Issues when activating a License Certificate

This article lists solutions if a license certificate may not be activated.

If your application fails to activate a certificate, refer to the solutions listed in the attached manual.

Also refer to Appendix B of the attached manual for networking requirements when using certificate licensing.

For ongoing licensing issues, please send in the following to our Support Desk (support@mhi.ca):

1. A description of the issue

2. Screenshots of any error messages

3. Your licensing log file:

a. PSCAD X4:

Attach all of the following files as applicable to your support e-mail:

(i) The PscadCert.txt log file can be found in the location below (applicable for PSCAD v4.6.3 Update 4+):

C:\ProgramData\Manitoba HVDC Research Centre\LicenseManager\

(ii) One or more PscadLmgr.txt log files are saved to the following locations (send all as applicable) (applicable for PSCAD v4.3 to v4.6):

-C:\Users\All Users\Manitoba HVDC Research Centre\LicenseManager
-C:\ProgramData\Manitoba HVDC Research Centre\LicenseManager
-C:\Users\<your_userID>\AppData\Local\Manitoba HVDC Research Centre\LicenseManager

b. PSCAD V5, PRSIM, Initializer:

From the Licensing menu, select Certificate | View | Log, to display the file (e.g. for PSCAD, this file is named "PscadCert.txt"), save the file to your machine, then attach the file to your support e-mail:

c.  Enerplot:

From the Licensing menu, select "View log", save the file to your machine, then attach the file to your support e-mail:

d.  FACE:

From the Licensing menu, select "View log":

4. Your Fortran Medic log file as follows:

a. Download the latest “FortranMedic” from our website:
  http://updater.pscad.com/utilities/FortranMedic.zip

b. Unzip the downloaded file, save it to a local drive, and run the FortranMedic.exe file.

Note
You will be prompted whether to run this utility with Windows Administrator privileges:

You can just select "No" if you will only be viewing and saving the results of the Medic utility.
You must select "Yes" if you will be making any changes to your machine using the Medic utility.
(recommended that this be done under the guidance of MHI support staff)


d. Click on the Actions menu and select "Start".

e. After the utility is done retrieving information, click on the "Actions" menu and select "Save Messages". The FortranMedic message window will display the location of the saved messages text file on your computer.
