Multi-Rate for PNI

In this video, we're going to look at the new Multi-Rate functionality introduced in PSCAD v5.1. Specifically, we'll demonstrate how to perform Parallel Network Interface, or PNI, simulations, where the projects at each end of a transmission line run at different time steps.

Key Topics Covered:

00:35 Chapter 1: Setting Up the Simulation – An overview of starting with a standard PNI simulation and decoupling time steps between projects, such as setting one project to 15 microseconds and the other to 50 microseconds.

01:15 Chapter 2: Transmission Line Requirements – A look at the critical requirement to use the Bergeron model for transmission lines, as the frequency-dependent phase model is not currently supported for multi-rate simulations.

01:57 Chapter 3: Important Restrictions – Important guidelines regarding foreign versus alien ends (limiting multi-rate to a single instance of PSCAD) and ensuring travel time is at least twice the length of the largest time step.
