Software Deployment

There are two types of software deployment tools, for installing the various editions of PSCAD and associated software. For detailed installation instructions, please refer to this webpage.

The Installer Utility

The Installer Utility has replaced the InstallShield Wizard as the official installer for PSCAD releases. No longer bundled together in one download, PSCAD, License Manager, GFortran 8.1, and GFortran 13.2 now come packaged as separate installers. This has improved the speed and ease to download and install the software and offers enhanced and simpler silent installations.

Prerequisite software comes bundled with the PSCAD Installer package, along with Sentinel Drivers to support lock-based licensing. Furthermore, during the installation, the user will have the option to also install the Automation Library.

The installer is normally downloaded through a MyCentre user account, the files are then unzipped, and the installation is launched by running the Installer.exe file in the main folder. For PSCAD, a desktop shortcut is created for launching the software.

The Installer Utility may also be used for installing thePSCAD Free and Beta editions. However, the preferred installer for these products is MyUpdater, as it provides notification when an update is available. The installers for these products may be obtained from the MHI support desk

MyUpdater

MyUpdater is a software deployment utility that is installed on a user’s workstation, and is used to install, uninstall, update and launch software.  MyUpdater is generally used to deploy unreleased MHI products such as the PSCAD Free and Beta editions, as well as the GFortran compilers. MyUpdater is optional for the deployment of the Professional and Educational editions, with the InstallShield Wizard as the preferred method.

MyUpdater may also be used to install products outside the scope of this Application Help, including FACE, Enerplot, PRSIM, the Initializer and DFScan.
