PSCAD requires a FORTRAN compiler to build and simulate projects. The following compilers for building and simulating PSCAD projects are presently supported:
Intel® Fortran Composer XE for Windows 12.1+, 13.x, 14.x, 15.x1
Intel® Parallel Studio XE for Windows 16.x1
Intel® Fortran Compiler for Windows 17.x, 18.x, 19.x1
Intel® Fortran Compiler oneAPI for Windows 2024, 20251
GFortran (8.1, 13.2)2
For your convenience, a free FORTRAN compiler, called the GFortran 95 compiler, is provided in your PSCAD installation package. If you have installed the Free Edition with your MyCentre account, the GFortran compiler is available as a separate download.
If you are the owner of a professional or educational PSCAD license, it is recommended that you purchase the Intel® Parallel Studio Composer Edition for Fortran for Windows, mainly for its superior debugging environment and optimisation features. You may purchase the Intel® Parallel Studio Composer Edition for Fortran for Windows directly from the Intel Corporation from here.
1The Intel® Fortran Composer/Parallel Studio XE and the Intel® Fortran Complier for Windows are not supported in the PSCAD Free Edition, which uses only the GFortran compiler.
2GFortran v8.1 comes complete with both 32 and 64-bit editions. GFortran v13.2 is 64-bit only.
Refer to Selecting and Setting up your Fortran Compiler for more information.
