This component compares modulating waves against carrier waves generated by MMC Carrier Signal Generator, and outputs control signals to MMC cells. The output is 1 if the value of the modulating waves is larger than that of the carrier wave, and 0 otherwise.
There are two modes of operation that this component may be set as:
Individual Modulating Waves? Set to Yes: In this mode, each the input carrier waves and modulating waves have the same number of orders, and each modulating wave is compared to its corresponding carrier wave.
Individual Modulating Waves? Set to No: In this mode, all carrier waves are compared to a single, modulating wave.
Mwave: Inputs single, modulating wave if Individual Modulating Waves? is set to No. Multiple modulating waves otherwise.
Carr: Inputs a set of carrier waves of the order specified in the parameter section.
Block: Inputs 1 for blocked state and 0 for unblocked.
# of Cells: Outputs the number of cells that has ON state. That is, the modulating waves are larger than the carrier signal at runtime.
Sort: This outputs the time-sequential control signal of 1 or 0, if and only if Individual Modulating Waves? is set to No. It issues a 1 whenever the state changes. That is,
Order of # of Cells changes
Block signal transit from 1 to 0
NOTE: This signal is required by the capacitor voltage balancing control algorithm [42] and used as an input in the Sort Indexer component.
FP: A vector of firing pulses with 1 when the value of the modulating wave is larger than that of the carrier wave, and 0 otherwise.
