Three-Phase Voltage Source Model 3

This component models a 3-phase AC voltage source, where the user may specify the positive sequence and zero sequence source impedances, or select an ideal source (i.e. infinite bus). Source impedance is modeled as a series RL impedance (as opposed to parallel RL).

Provision is included for the display of source rated voltage, frequency and MVA, as well as positive-sequence impedance data. This source must be controlled externally.

External Connections

You can connect a slider to these external inputs for a convenient runtime manual adjustment, or use a control system output for dynamic adjustment.

The source impedance may be entered in either rectangular format (R +jX) or polar format (Z/q).

Input Parameters

Source Name	Text		Just an identifier. A name should be entered here to avoid compilation warnings

Base MVA (3-phase)	REAL	Constant	Enter the 3-phase base MVA for the source [MVA]

Base Voltage (L-L, RMS)	REAL	Constant	Enter the line-to-line, RMS base voltage for the source [kV]

Base Frequency	REAL	Constant	Enter the base frequency for the source [Hz]

Voltage Input Time Constant	REAL	Variable	Time for the source to ramp up to 1.0 pu Use a minimum voltage input time constant of 3 times the fundamental frequency period (i.e. 0.05 s for 60Hz and 0.06 s for 50Hz) in most cases to reduce start-up transients [s]

Infinite Bus?	Choice		Select Yes or No to model an infinite bus (zero source impedance)

Zero Seq. Differs from Pos. Seq.?	Choice		Select Yes or No. If No is selected, it is assumed that zero sequence impedance is the same as the positive sequence impedance. This input is disabled when Infinite Bus? \| Yes is selected

Impedance Data Format	Choice		Select Real-Imaginary or Magnitude-Angle format for impedance entry. This input is disabled when infinite bus is selected [W] [°]

Graphics Display	Choice		Select 3-phase view or single-line view

Display Details?	Choice		Select Yes or No. If Yes is selected, Voltage Magnitude, Frequency, MVA and Positive Sequence Impedance will be displayed along with the icon

Impedance	REAL	Constant	Enter the positive sequence impedance magnitude. This input is disabled when Impedance Data Format \| R + jX is selected [W]

Phase Angle	REAL	Constant	Enter the positive sequence impedance phase angle. This input is disabled when Impedance Data Format \| R + jX is selected [°]

Resistance	REAL	Constant	Enter resistive part of the positive sequence impedance. This input is disabled when Impedance Data Format \| Z/q is selected [W]

Reactance	REAL	Constant	Enter reactive part of the positive sequence impedance. This input is disabled when Impedance Data Format \| Z/q is selected [W]

Impedance	REAL	Constant	Enter the zero sequence impedance magnitude. This input is disabled when Impedance Data Format \| R + jX is selected [W]

Phase Angle	REAL	Constant	Enter the zero sequence impedance phase angle. This input is disabled when Impedance Data Format \| R + jX is selected [°]

Resistance	REAL	Constant	Enter resistive part of the zero sequence impedance. This input is disabled when Impedance Data Format \| Z/q is selected [W]

Reactance	REAL	Constant	Enter reactive part of the zero sequence impedance. This input is disabled when Impedance Data Format \| Z/q is selected [W]

Name for Real Power (+Out) (MW)	REAL	Output	Name for the source real output power [MW]

Name for Reactive Power (+Out) (MVAR)	REAL	Output	Name for the source reactive output power [MVAr]

Name for Phase Current (kA)	REAL	Output	Name for the specified phase current of the source [kA]
