The Variable RLC component allows the user to model a resistor, inductor or capacitor, whose value can be changed based on a control signal such as frequency, voltage, current, temperature, arc length etc.
This model can contain its own branch source voltage, and is basically a graphical representation of the Equivalent Conductance (GEQ) Electric Interface, to model a resistor, inductor or capacitor.
The following important points should kept in mind when using this component:
Zero Value: The variable used to define the R, L or C value should not be assigned an extremely small value at TIMEZERO. Otherwise, an EMTDC conductance matrix singularity may occur.
Fixed Values: If you require that the R, L, or C values remain fixed, you should use the fixed Resistor, Inductor or Capacitor components --they are more efficient (i.e. their nodes are collapsible, etc.). If you require that the R,L or C values be assigned from parent module parameters, then you should use the Runtime Configurable Passive Branch component.
