This course will focus on studies related to the integration of renewable generation such as Wind and Solar PV. The course will include discussions and simulation illustration of inverter operation and control concepts, how to represent the AC network for a full impact study and how to perform a full impact study.
Application of STATCOMs and synchronous condensers as a mitigation measure for poor system performance will be discussed with practical tutorial examples.
Other topics include sub synchronous resonance, torsional interactions and power quality as well as a brief discussion on PSCAD features that support full impact studies.
Course attendees will be able to experiment with the case studies in an interactive hands-on workshop environment using PSCAD.
