Configuring PSCAD V5 - Whether to Share Licensing with Older Versions Or Not

A PSCAD V5 License Certificate can be configured to be shared with the following supported older versions:

  • v4.6.3 Updates 4 and 5

Earlier versions of PSCAD are supported with a v5.0 license certificate, but cannot be configured to share the license. Further details on this may be found in Step 2 of this article.

1. To Configure PSCAD V5 to Share a License Certificate with Supported Older PSCAD Versions

If using a PSCAD V5 license certificate on a machine on which a supported version willl also be used (i.e. v4.6.3 Update 4 or Update 5), then PSCAD V5 should be configured to share licensing with older versions:

Note - Ensure to exit and restart PSCAD in order for the new configuration to take effect !

2. To Configure PSCAD V5 to NOT Share a License Certificate with the Unsupported Older PSCAD Versions

If using a PSCAD V5 license certificate on a machine on which an unsupported older version willl also be used (e.g. 4.6.3 Update 3 and older), then PSCAD V5 should be configured to not share licensing with older versions:

Note - Ensure to exit and restart PSCAD in order for the new configuration to take effect !

This setting would then allow you to use a second license certificate (for X4) on this same machine.
